Immanuel Courtyard entertained a crowd of family and friends with their second annual Christmas Pageant in the community's Fogelstrom Chapel (to view a video of last year's pageant, click here). This popular event celebrates the Birth of Immanuel - God With Us and is directed by life enrichment coordinator, Ann Marie Goettl, with assistance by Cameo Rogers.
Marlene Hansen, a resident from independent living, narrated the Christmas Story while Dick Sladky, a visiting entertainer, lead the congregation in familiar Christmas carols. The birth of Christ was played out by eighteen residents, who dedicated themselves to several practices and a dress rehearsal before opening day.
Joseph and Mary (played by Vinnie Doke and Barb Hiller) received the gifts of royally-dressed magi and shepherds with their lambs. Angels dressed in white shared the good news with Mary and danced through out the play, while the north star guided all to the manger. Loved ones as well as Immanuel Village staff were witness to the display, and enjoyed refreshments following the performance.
