Helping the Homeless

Service to the community is so ingrained at Immanuel, it’s part of our mission and it’s a focus residents can get behind. This March, we spearheaded a resident volunteer group to serve lunch to the homeless each monthly through an outreach of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Church.

Volunteer residents have been able to get to know meal recipients at the lunch site of Downtown Episcopal Outreach (DEO) and this holiday season, wanted to do more to help. They decided to collect warm winter items and asked their neighbors to help.

This October and November, volunteers delivered the donated items to people in need. It was a great opportunity to involve all the residents at Immanuel Village, even those not able to volunteer during the lunch.

What a great team effort!
