Functional Fitness exercises train and develop your muscles to make it easier and safer to perform everyday activities such as carrying groceries, getting dressed, brushing your hair, driving, playing with your kids/grandkids on the floor and even regaining your balance if you should trip or stumble. Tanya Lager, Thrive Wellness Manager and Fitness Specialist, is working to encourage individuals to re-think exercise and take into consideration how it can help to maintain or improve their quality of life. Participants in this particular class are doing just that. Every week they are being challenged with very thought out, intentional exercises that not only get their heart pumping and muscle's toned, but make their daily living tasks a little easier. And that's the focus of functional fitness.
